Another incredible Italian feast in the books!
Caffe Alanno was excited to be part of the 2026 San Gennaro Feast in Boston’s historic North End, serving our handcrafted Sicilian granita alongside a weekend filled with Italian food, music, culture, and community.
For a family-owned business built around Italian heritage and tradition, there are few places we’d rather be than celebrating right in the heart of Boston’s Italian neighborhood.
A Taste of Sicily in the North End
Granita has deep roots in Sicilian food culture, and sharing it at an Italian feast gives us the opportunity to introduce more people to this traditional frozen treat.
At Caffe Alanno, our granita is handmade in small batches with simple, natural ingredients. Each batch is slowly frozen and gently scraped by hand at intervals to create the distinctive texture that makes granita so different from other frozen desserts.
Whether visitors came to the feast already knowing and loving granita or were trying it for the first time, we loved having the opportunity to share a little taste of Sicily with them.
Celebrating the Traditions Behind Caffe Alanno
Being in the North End always brings Caffe Alanno’s story back to where it began.
Karen and Mike both grew up in Boston surrounded by Italian-American culture, food, and family traditions. Mike remembers making weekly trips to the North End with his mother for groceries, and, of course, enjoying a frozen lemon treat along the way.
Those childhood memories, combined with their families’ traditions of gardening and cooking with fresh ingredients, would eventually help inspire Caffe Alanno.
Years later, returning to the North End to serve our own handcrafted Sicilian granita makes celebrations like the San Gennaro Feast even more meaningful.
Thank You, Boston!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Caffe Alanno stand during the 2026 San Gennaro Feast! We loved seeing familiar faces, meeting new ones, and being part of another celebration of the Italian traditions that mean so much to our family.
